
My neighbor asked me if I could help him fix his bike. It doesn't brake well at all. I tightened them up as much as I could, but the pads are rock hard and just won't stop anymore. I've never worked on cantilevers before, so I'm not sure what I should be buying. I'm also an amateur, I just know more than he does, which is why he brought it to me. He's got a loaner bike from me in the meantime.

I think you can just use regular brake pads
Smooth post canti pads. Kool Stop makes some good ones.

Shimano also makes canti pads. You just want the post kind and not the threaded kind.
