    Congratulations on the new bike

My opinion on a computer is – it’s only really worth it if you’re looking to track cadence at a minimum, preferably power too. If you’re just looking to track your rides and your speed, your phone (or multi sport watch if you have one, you mentioned a possible 70.3) will do the trick.

If you’re still dead set on getting a dedicated computer, go for a Garmin or similar that comes in a kit with a speed and cadence sensor. Again if you have a multi sport watch already, see if you can get away with just the sensors. Try to live in the same ecosystem if you can just to aid cross compatibility.

Decent gear and decent tools/bike care are higher order purchases for now. When you’re looking at videos about cleaning your drivetrain, try look for ones specific about linkglide chains and cassettes. They last longer than hyperglide but only if you keep them clean.
