Finally got the first of my production version of the front rak-lok and mounted it on a new to me big dummy. Taking my kid to San Francisco on it this weekend.
I forgot seeing this a while back. Still love it!!

I like the idea however I have one question: how do you remove the lock? I take into consideration my “standard issue” Kryptonite “Kryptolok Series 2” lock. The way it disconnects from the “U” shaped part of the assembly involves rotating the lock assembly away from the “U” part. This will not work with your design because the “U” part has a angled kick-out to accommodate the locking action and will not slide through the tubing on the rack. You would then be in competition with your customers existing lock and have to provide a lock that works with your design and this will significantly increase the “out the door” price of your rack. I for one would not want to buy another $60 lock just to use this rack. It’s much cheaper to use two small straps to lash the lock under any existing front rack. I actually lash my lock under the rear rack employing part of the rack’s native design and a single short strap.
Again, I like the look and thought you have put into the rack but unless I win the lottery and start buying Rivendell or Breadwinner bicycles, Your beautiful rack is out of my reach 🙂

Different U-locks (D-locks in UK) have different widths (NY lock?) and lengths.

Can I buy one in the UK? This will totally clean up the front end of my bike. Got a Jake the Rack which is totally great and functional but not the tidiest looking rack. This looks… tidy!
