Hello everyone,
i will go on a solo bikepacking trip in norway from the 1st of August to the 14th of August this year. My plan is to start in Bergen and ride to Alesund by a route that also goes over Haugastol to Flam (Rallarvegen). I planned the tour on Komoot:
My idea is to ride around 90 kilometers every day and the plan would look like this:
– 1st August: Arrive in Bergen, get gear ready and stay a night at a hotel
– 2nd August to 11th August on the road
– 11th August: Arrive in Alesund
– 12th August: Ferry ride from Alesund to Bergen
– 14th August: Fly Home from Bergen
If the plan works out, I have one day to spend in Bergen. If it does not work out, I have one day as a buffer. So in theory everything looks good đ
I still have some questions for the ones of you who have already toured in Norway and/or know the nature there:
– I have planned several singletrails (in Hardangerjokulen on the way to Haugastol, after Flam in the mountains, and in Stolsheimen Landskapsvernomrade), but i cannot really tell how difficult they really are. Maybe some of you know the area and can give me information.
– I am still unsure if my plan to make 90km in a day on average is fine or if i am underestimating the nature up there.
– And if any of you have some tips you want to share with me about the route, I would be very grateful.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Beautiful!!! I’ll land in Oslo and get to Bergen via the Rallarvagen. The part of Flam you want to do is a dirt road, no difficulties, just a few steep descents.
I love the adventurous route planning but I donât think you have enough time to make it. Be prepared to hike-a-bike most of the single track. See http://www.Finn.no/map with the âflyfotoâ layer for aerial photos. Itâs more detailed than google mapsâ satellite photos and you can make out a path on parts of your route⌠Personally I wouldnât find it enjoyable but if youâre a glutton for punishment you might.
I would suggest you take a look at cyclenorway.com for alternate routes.
Prepare to be chronically wet. I did three August weeks in Lofoten a few years ago and got rain every day.
We did the rallarvegen to Alesund, this was our route

I can get you better details for each leg.
Indeed the ferry from Aurlandsvangen to Balestrand. Note: you Must book this in advance!!!. This ferry was one of the highlights of the trip. What a view.
Aurlandsvangen is way more interesting than Flam.
The descent from the rallarvegen into Flam is on foot. I definitely would not choose to go the other direction.
The other hard bit was from Flo to Hellesylt. Very steep gravel road. Very pretty but hard.
