I thought originally this was play in the saddle, I replaced the saddle and bolts because they were both pretty well used. Torqued down to 8nM, used loctite, etc. still feels loose at times in the saddle laterally.

I think I'm feeling both the play in the dropper along with some additional play in the saddle rails. Any ideas? WTB Speed saddle, OneUP V2 dropper on a Transition Spur (stock).

  1. As the brass pins wear down this lateral play gets more pronounced but it’s still totally functional. You can replace them with fatter pins at that point. Take a look at the service parts available.

  2. I have a oneup dropper and it has a little play like this. I’m really surprised because this dropper got rave reviews. It performs flawlessly though so i can put up with it.

Skip to 10:00. He shows you the inside of the dropper and the brass keys that stop the rotation. It will make sense how it works in the video. You can buy replacements, and it’s an easy 30 min job.

While you’re in there you might as well replace bushings and seal too.

  4. Yeah it works well but I’ve got a lot of play in the seat. I changed the bolts and saddle, does the seat clamp ever warp or anything? It’s weird I thought I had it fixed and after a mile or so the seat is moving just enough back and forth laterally under me.

One up sells rebuild kits for them . They are awesomely serviceable. The rebuild kit will fix the play

  6. Many people seem to think this is a problem. All my seat posts have a little play. I never notice it while I’m riding.
