Hi everyone,
I’m having trouble with my cycle’s front gears. It’s a 7-speed Tungsten brand cycle, and the issue is:
- The front shifter won’t go up to the 3rd gear.
- When I try, it gets stuck and feels extremely tight/hard, like it won’t move further.
- The chain stays on the 2nd gear, no matter how much I push.
- I’ve uploaded a video of the issue so you can see exactly what happens.
I’d really appreciate any guidance on what I should check or adjust. Thanks in advance!

Could do with seeing what the front derailleur is doing at the same time. But just as an initial question – Were you pedaling?
The Shifter pushes/guides the chain over, but it won’t switch if you weren’t moving the cranks round. You can push up one gear sure, but pushing into the next gear isn’t going to work because the chain is still stuck on the first gear.
You need to pedal to shift.
You need to pedal to shift. The lever could also be binding on the body because it’s bent.
