Please teach me what is wrong with my form? I can jump. But not as the way I want it to be. I really want to do a manual motion at the ramp. But my body just can’t stop jumping like jumping on a flat ground. I can describe how I jump is like jumping forward. I can do a leverage and manual motion when I am slow. But I can’t transfer it to jump with speed. Please help!

  1. Yeah, looks a bit like BMX racing jumps. You’re absorbing the lip through your legs and hinging your weight forward. It’s a fine technique to know if you’re going too fast for a jump. You see it plenty in MTB racing. I think you have the right idea if you’re trying to bring in a motion that feels a bit like pulling up for a manual or just jumping without a bike on flat ground.

Basically, it comes down to having weight back through your legs so the front end of the bike continues the shape of the lip, then you have an explosive motion (or at least resisting the jump) in your legs to shoot yourself up.

If it feels more like a mental block, it might help to do it on a really small jump at low speeds. Like something just a bit higher than a curb. Keep practicing at low stakes until you start to feel that pop motion and getting airtime.
