I've bought a brand new Crux Comp with a goal of building a do-it-all bike. For a roadie rides I want to use 2x on the front AND I have a short legs so I want to use 160mm cranks. So I've got Shimano 105 r7100 160m, which should fit perfectly.

I've removed stock GRX crankset and keep original SM-BBR60 bottom bracket. Obviously it doesn't work, as smallest cog are pushed into frame.

I know that overall Crux can be converted to 2x, but maybe:

– Size 49 can't be?

– Or I need to use some spacers in-between bottom bracket and frame?

Any help appreciated

  1. gravel bikes often have a maximum 30/31 tooth small Chain ring on 2x cranks. Also the 105 has a narrower chain line compared to grx. Not exactly sure about the crux but looking at those pictures at least one of those factors appears to be true here.

  2. Try a GRX crankset and derailleur. I’ve wanted to throw a GRX crank on a trek domane and realized I would have to change the derailleur too since it’s set further out.
