Not sure what's going on here. What I think is supposed to be an 8mm hex got deformed by a previous owner. I can still fit a long 8mm Alan socket breaker bar in from the non-drive side. I've cranked it counter clockwise a lot at this point and it won't budge.
Is there any chance this fitting is Torx? I can only find info online for 8mm hex self extraction cranks. But it fits a big torx. I haven't gone so far as a long breaker bar, yet but I'm about to go on a big trip and I'm worried about breaking something.
Just wanted to change my chainring š

The label confirms the crank should fit an 8mm hex wrench. It looks like the hole has been damaged, suggesting someone has had trouble and/or used the wrong tool. Still, since you can fit an 8mm hex bit and apply torque without the bit slipping, Iād just try more torque. I use an 18in breaker. Before you try that you might apply a little penetrating oil where it has the best chance of reaching the threads, and then wait a few hours.
