6000 miles on my 2 year old Endurace CF.

The thru axle threads entirely failed. They are made of aluminum (not steel) and non-replacable.

At first Canyon was going to charge me for a new frame since they said it was user error in not keeping the thru axles tight enough. They might be right…I never tightened that hard because I thought this was safer for the threads. Turns out the instruction manual does say tighten to 15 Nm or as hard as you can by hand. Not very precise.

I complained profusely until support caved and decided to do a warranty replacement.

But I had to cut up the frame and send them pics!

  1. Did yours snap while riding?

I had mine snap on my 2024 Aeroad while I was actually tightening them. This does not fill me with confidence.

Edit: about 5k miles on my bike when my rear thruaxle thread just snapped off while tightening by hand with the lever. I definitely don’t do 15lbs/ft torque, as that’s really difficult to get undone by hand when doing a roadside repair.
