Dan and Joe head to Cannock Chase Trail Centre for a proper head-to-head shootout β€” pitting two Stanton hardtails against each other to see which comes out on top.

On one side: the Switch9er Ti, a full-geared setup built for speed and flow.
On the other: the Sherpa Ti, running single-speed and stripped back to pure simplicity.

Same brand, same DNA, totally different personalities.
But here’s the big question β€” which bike gets around the loop faster?

Expect climbs, descents, honest rider opinions, and a few surprises along the way.

Bikes featured:

Stanton Switch9er Ti (Geared)

Stanton Sherpa Ti (Single Speed)

Filmed at: Cannock Chase Trail Centre, UK

Let us know in the comments β€” which setup would you pick?

  1. Love this! I got infected but the SS bug a few years ago. As I’m a middle aged & decidedly average rider, riding SS has made my rides so much more fun. More content like this!

  2. In my 15 years of mountain biking, riding single speed is the NUMBER ONE most significant upgrade to my average speed BY FAR… It's wild, because when I put the gears back on the bike, my average speed on the same trails and same bike will decline by 1.5 mph or more. So whatever lesson I "learn" from riding single speed, immediately vanishes upon using gears again.

  3. Awesome. Summay of this video is Dan is a prick and Joe will lose whatever he is given. Good job to you both. Thanks for the video. Looking forward to the next one.

  4. Another great vid boys! Shame to hear about the footage from your trip Dan. Was looking forward to seeing what you'd shot with Steve.

  5. I'm someone that used to race fixed gear track bikes in middle school & high that started using single speed basically as a temporary thing until I could buy a new drivetrain for my first MTB & after many 1,000 miles on bikepacking & touring trips I like single speed over geared might not be the most efficient or fastest but I can stick with people on bikepacking races or trips & have a lot less mechanical issues
