Hi everyone,
I’m in a bit of a spot – I borrowed my uncle’s bike and had a bit of a tumble and I’ve ended up with some scuffs and scratches on my shifters and brakes (as seen in the photos). The damage is purely cosmetic – the shifting and braking still work perfectly but I’d like to return it in the same condition I got it.
What’s the best way to smooth these out or hide the marks?
Thanks for the help!

I say just keep em as badges of honor, especially if everything works. The bike will be scuffed as it gets used!
That said you can try to lightly sand but that may just lead to more work touching up the finish. If you sand try not to leave exposed metal, coat it with oil at minimum or reapply the finish using enamel or automotive paint
sharpie
testors black or testors flat black. Model paint is what I use on the bike and heck even motorized vehicles.
Ramen
Nail polish works well. Sometimes a black paint pen can do the trick
You can’t paint away the dents. Just tell your uncle what happened.
