I’m in the process of getting a new bike and have found three that might suit my needs. I’m looking for a steel flat handlebar bike, preferably in 650b, and capable of commuting and bike adventures. These are the three bikes I’m considering:

1. [**Surly Midnight Special**](https://surlybikes.com/bikes/midnight_special): If I could choose out of the three listed bikes, I would go with this one. I love its look and components, but the high cost and the need for a conversion to flat handlebars keep me from buying it, as it overall doesn’t fit under my budget due to the conversion.
2. [**Rose Bike Hobo**](https://www.rosebikes.com/bikes/urban/hobo): I love the design of this bike, but I’m not familiar with the company. Does anyone have good experiences with Rose Bikes? The reviews on [**Trustpilot**](https://ie.trustpilot.com/review/rosebikes.com) are mixed.
3. [**Fairdale Weekender MX**](https://shop.fairdalebikes.com/products/2022-fairdale-weekender-mx-matte-black-in-m-l): Out of the three bikes, this is the one I would choose based on “looks” alone. I feel these are the “coolest bikes” on the market. However, I’ve heard some bad things about the Weekender and it seems overpriced.
If you are familiar with any other steel frame bikes that include 650b wheels, flat handlebars, and a 1x drivetrain, please recommend them to me. Thanks for looking into it! 🙂

Rose Bikes is a German direct to customer brand which also is a big parts-seller for everything bike related. Bikes are similar to canyon with good value but bad customer service.
Curious why you “need” flat bars. They are fine for short rides, not good at all for long rides. If It’s a comfort thing, chances are your never been correctly fitted to drop bars.
Black Mountain Cycles La Cabra will run with flat bars or drop bars and can clear some big 650b tires.
