Looks like the thread in the pedal arm is destroyed. Did someone at an earlier point try to mount the right hand pedal to the left arm, or cross thread the pedal? Either way im betting its time for a new crank.

No. Go to your blocal bike shop. They will helicoil it. Its a bombproof cool and cheap solution.

The threads look bad, but in my capacity as a mechanic, I was surprised by the number of times I was able to tap something like this and make it work again. It’s worth visiting a shop and seeing. Worse case scenario here is that you need a new left crank arm or that they helicoil your old crank. You will not need a whole crank set.

Threads inside the crank arm is probably stripped. There should a way to clean and fix the threads without replacing the crank arm itself
