A forecast for showers had me boldly going forth for the second instalment in the Sub Two Series with just a lightweight shell jacket in my seatpack.
I had a route in mind on roads I knew from the 2000s but which I’d not strung together in this order.
A visit to the tallest freestanding structure in the U.K. – that would make for spectacular viewing, wouldn’t it?
Then the weather departed from the script ….
That’s West Yorkshire autumnal cycling for you.

And the temporary (Emley)mast has now been removed, That road alongside the Calder was impassable a few days ago (unless you wore a snorkel)
Hi can tyres skid on diesel. Does the wet help?
Days like these are sent to test us Gordon. Another great ride banked
True cyclist out in all weathers.
Definitely a tad damp out! Glad I was inside at work……and then on the turbo in the evening in the dry lol. Well done for getting out Gordon.
Miserable days like that are required to earn the good ones!
