Riding on gravel, going from 30mm tires to 50mm tires, I loved the comfort and traction improvement. So when 29+ bikes started coming out, I realized 75mm tires would be even more plush. And I was right. This is a classic Surly ECR frame fitted with a blend of Shimano 105 and SLX drivetrain components, but with mechanical Spyre disc brakes (powerful dual-action brakes, but no hassles with hydraulic fluid). Wheels are Surly rabbit holes wrapped with set of 3" wide Knard tires. Finally, I added a ZeroSlip mount top tube pack, one of our aero US-made Speedpack 693s.

How’s the shifting on the front derailleur? I’m always curious to hear how road shifters and mtb front derailleurs play together.
