Bought a surly grappler frameset on the recent sale. Did some interweb searching and found some wheels on sale. Handlebar, chain ring, tires, were the last pieces. About 750 out of pocket and combined with some parts I had here. This old dropper is 3/4 broken so a replacement is imminent, but she will do for now.
This is the 2nd monstercross sort of build I've done with ultegra 11 speed shifters and xt rear caliper. It's a bit of a pain to bleed and set up but works really well once complete.
The shifting is the ultegra 11 on a 1x with an SLX rear Der and a tanpan device. I have to say it's fantastic once dialed in. Almost 100% perfect and the used shifters could be somewhat to blame for the less than perfect score.
All and all I'm pretty stoked for the amount of cash spent, which is pretty close to the least I've ever spent on a brand new build. All the parts are brand new except the saddle, shifters, cassette, stem, but the saddle, cassette, and stem could have passed for new. Shifters had plenty of use previously. The other new parts were in my attic stock for such a rainy day as today.
Open to thoughts and ideas. Planning a bikepack touring trip right now.

That is a really nice build for that price.
’tis a fine drop bar mtb, but sure ’tis no monstercross, English.
I love it. The blue accents look nice 👌. I have a Grappler in blue also, but I went purple with my accents.
