look like a singlespeed shimano hg freehubbody.
I got a cog but i've been unable to find a proper lockring to secure. normal fixedgear lockring was bit too narrow, didn't go in at all. shimano sprocket lockring also didn't fit in since there's a bearing cover.

Not sure what you’ve got there, but I think you need spacers and a cassette lockring. Look at a Surly singlespeed kit.
Is there one narrow spline/wide gap, or are they all the same size?
With the threads on the splines, it sure looks like a shorty version of a Shimano [Uniglide](https://www.sheldonbrown.com/k7.html#uniglide) freehub body… On those, there was no lockring, the top cog threaded on. That said, IIRC you could fit track lockrings on those freehub bodies, and you say a “normal fixedgear lockring was a bit too narrow”…? Not sure what you mean by that.
Is that a freewheel body with cogs removed?
OP, I think you’re looking at a proprietary Bontrager thing, which is meant to be a single-speed freehub body.
It should just take a normal HG cassette cog (any, really) and then there’s a lockring that goes onto the external threads (Bontrager made a fancy one, but it’s essentially just a classic 1.37x24tpi BB lockring). You can also use normal plastic cassette spacers to adjust chainline, a bit.
