$1400 for Fox Factory, GX, Hope wheels and hubs seems like a fairly good grab to me. You could always find an angled headset to slacken it out a degree or so and get something closer to modern geo.

Seems like that price is in the ballpark. You could stew over whether or not you could have saved a hundred euros but after a few good rides who cares? How many ways could you blow that sum that wouldn’t give you a fraction of the enjoyment you’ll get out of riding that thing?

Maybe not the most modern geometry but you have some decently high end components on there. Could keep an eye out for a deal on a more modern frame down the road.

Mondraker Dune! I had a base version of that bike(2016) and I loved it! I bought it for 2000€ new and later sold it for 1300€. Xr is the higher end version so I think the price is alright. I think the bike is still pretty solid with modern geo and all that.

I overpaid for most of my bikes. But looking for deals did not meet my “gotta have it now” impulse. If there’s buyers regret, analyze how you could have gotten it for less and do that next time.

Depends on how much you enjoy it. Comparison is the thief of joy, it sounds like a reasonable price for a well specced older price, and it could easily end up being dollar for dollar the best $1600 you ever spend in your life. You probably won’t find something way better in that price range unless that thing is absolutely hammered and needs 2k worth of work, so who cares if you could have gotten something slightly better or worse for the same price.
