    That doesn’t make the whole bike bad, it just limits stem height. But you could work around that with angled stems or high rise bars if needed. Will be harder to resell the fork also.

  2. Between riser bars or an angled stem you’ve still got some options. I read recently there are companies that can replace the steer tube, not sure how cost efficient that is though.

    You can go with very high rise bars and be good to go. If you feel you need the height .

    Nothing wrong with a short steerer. I’d make sure the steerer connects to the whole stem and be happy with it.

  4. Can’t tell what fork it is in the pics but usually a new crown steerer unit is reasonable if you don’t mind a little DIY. Can also do a rebuild and have basically a new fork while you’re at it.

    Can also find good deals on used stuff these days.. just pat attention to stem length.
