Hello fellow cyclists. !!
I just got my first pair of cycling shoes and I’m unsure about the size. Got 2 sizes so I can try them and one feels a bit tight and the bigger feels really big and my feet seems a bit loose
What do you think from the photos?
First one is size 48 and the other 49. Does the 48 have sufficient space in between the big toe based on the insoles?
I tend to keep the smaller one.
Let me know what you think!

Both are too long, but the shoe model is too narrow for your feet, so it’s not the best choice either way.
Most important if you can put a finger or almost a thumb between your big toe and en of the shoe. Then it’s a good fit.
Looks like I would choose 48.
One thing I’ve learned in my search for optimal fit is that the arch length needs to work for you. That and enough room for decent toe splay. I ended up with shoes 1.5 sizes up from what my foot length would dictate and so far all of my foot/shoe issues seem to be resolved.
Length doesn’t matter if the ball of your foot lands wherever feels most comfortable in the shoe. That’ll help you get the right relationship to the spindle and maximize power and comfort.
