  1. Maybe it came with a free freewheel sound upgrade. Sorry I don’t actually know anything about bike maintenance and am experiencing a similiar issue.

  2. To me it sounds like too tight of a chain. Or new, for that matter, new chains have a tendency to make crrk sounds.

    Could be that your chain is tight, your chain isn’t lubed or that some makes and models of chain are just noisier than others and yours is one of them. The rhythmic quality to the noise might be down to the chainring not being perfectly round and/or concentric, thus there are tight spots.

  4. Just a warning be very careful turning the cranks without pedals from the driveside. I did that and my fingers got trapped between the chain and chainring and severely fucked my fingers resulting in severed tendons and ligaments as well as massive gashes to two of my digits.
