Chased a creak for weeks. Stubborn creak or tick with every pedal revolution noticable when greater force applied to the pedals, seemed to be clearly associated with the right pedal; if i did the pedaling work with the left pedal and essentially let the right pedal coast w/o much foot force; the sound cleared-up. Removed/cleaned/greased/torqued/replaced both pedals, tightend the crank arms, and removed/cleaned/loctite/torqued the chain ring bolts w/o success in eliminating the noise. installed a new chain, cleaned and tightened seat and seat post. Torqued every bolt on the bike. Was about to pull the bottom bracket but before doing did a quick squirt of MO-94 between the cup bearing and the small chain wheel (see pic) and CREAK GONE; sanity returned. I'm not sure if this is a band-aid or a fix and any commentary in that regard much appreciated.

  1. I’ve been there, it can be maddening! Throughout the years, I’ve found the seatpost is the most likely culprit, then cranks, then pedals. Last time I immediately caught a pedal, I think I’ve gotten good at this.

  2. I have the same bike and have the exact same issue! Did the same repairs you mentioned and the creak is still there. Right now the bike is in the shop for a complete service and hope it stops the creak. Could you post another pic of where to add the lubricant in case I need to do the same? Thanks!
