Hey y'all! Recently sorta finished this build and I'm wondering what you all think it's still missing. So far I'm really happy with the ride feel of the tires, but I think the gear ratio could be improved. Also wonder if I should do a drop bar conversion and get a Brooks B17? Maybe a purple anodized crankset and seat post? Idk but I'm totally open to suggestions!

  1. No idea about the mechanical aspects but this bike…inblack and yellow…with drop bars…is the xbiking batcycle.

Mudguards, you don’t want to be looking at all the rocks/twigs/hedgehogs/small children stuck in those gummy slicks

Edit: Also turbofan wheel covers would look sick and save you….like 10 watts!

I think you did well to have an intermediate gear. Maybe somehow put in a gearbox there as well?

A chain tensioner is the first thing that comes to mind. You also seem to be missing a rear derailleur, and cable routing for it is going to be a challenge.

You have to tell “why the fuck did no one listen to me when I said it would be a 2 stopper!” every time you go under anything.

  6. With the recent understanding of how tire width plays into rolling resistance there’s no reason to run such narrow tires. You can easily go wider without sacrificing speed.

  7. Needs Honjo fenders, a Blue Lug pylon reflector hanging from the seat, frame bag, front rack, and a dynamo light. Other than that it’s looking fantastic!

I know we’re joking here but are those cotterless cranks? Also this is actually a good candidate for one of those illegal e-bike conversions

  9. Maybe try asking over in r/gravelcycling, might not be wide enough tires for them though. Might need to go a little wider if you have clearance and some drops

  10. Finally had the opportunity to use full wets and we still got mediums. (This bike combines my many loves, it’s beautiful.)
