Long story short, I am getting older, had an accident last year after getting back on the bike 7 years later that I cracked a few ribs, tore a muscle from my back to the ribs and bruised my liver.

I am looking for a chest and rib protection I can throw on for mountain biking to help prevent these injuries this upcoming year. I found that troybilt use to have something in stock but no longer does.

Does anyone know of anything like this? I’m looking for something a little more light weight than a motocross chest piece.

Thanks!

  1. Yeah man I have one of these and I love it. You have to be ginger putting it on, but once it’s on, I leave it on all day. Provides all the protection I need and doesn’t restrict my movement. I wear it at Whistler especially.

EDIT: I wrote my comment before even reading your post. I guess you’re not necessarily talking about the pictured TLD vest. But that is the one I am commenting on. I know you said it’s out of stock, but I’d highly recommend searching the web and finding one used. It’s a great vest and would work well for you, assuming you buy the right size.

  2. I always wore modified motorcross chest and kidney protection

It is too hot in the doldrums of the heat in the south eastern region but if it’s that hot your not hammering up a mountain track to drop into the insect infested single track down hill to breath 8 pounds of flying insects
