I’ve been working on jumping and finally got a chance to ask someone to hold my phone for a quick video. I overshot this first jump and lost my momentum for the second. I’m looking for tips to improve and wondering if I’m preloading too much – I seem to have my legs extended too much and too soon. Any suggestions are much appreciated

You’re way to stiff. You’re approach is good but the minute you start to lift you’re back gets straight and your legs almost lock out.
Try bending your knees and elbows and let the bike float up underneath you. That way you can push down with your arms to help stop you from overshooting the jump plus you can get a good pump on the backside of the jump which will help you maintain and even pick up some speed.
You’re not horribly off. You just need to adjust somewhat.
Look at some videos of guys jumping and watch them let the bike float up underneath them and then push down. Semenuk does a real good job of it as do many others.
