I’m early into cycling. I bought a secondhand Liv bike which has served its purpose in helping me build confidence and practice and confirming that I really love cycling but I’m now looking for a new bike.

Last week I purchased the Aeroad CF SLX 7 di2 in midnight blaze on outlet so I saved some money. I’ve since learnt that this colour might be hard to manage and maintain although I do love it.

So question 1 – do I pay the extra and swap it for white? Or can I do enough (like Ride Wrap) to protect the midnight blaze and stick with it. White has always been my favourite but I don’t feel like I’m settling with midnight blaze as it looks pretty cool!

Or

As the bike still hasn’t been sent I’ve looked into all the other options. Should I consider some of the other models like the

CF SLX 7 AXS NSW ($9049)

-SRAM rival

-Zipp 454 NSW TL Wheelset

-Available in white (my favourite colour if given an option).

CF SLX 7 AXS Speed ($7749)

-SRAM rival

-DT Swiss ARC 1600

-Kaze colour only. Kaze is my least favourite of the bunch but I could choose it if the bike was the best choice).

or the CF SLX 8 AXS Speed? ($9799)

-SRAM force

-Zipp 404 Firecrest Hookless

-Kaze Colour only

  1. You answered your question. You’ll be having dreams about that white bike and regret you didn’t buy it

  2. I went with the SLX 8 AXS and really enjoyed the ride. The hookless haven’t been an issue over the 2k miles I have on them over anything from flats to descending in the mountains.

  3. Sure matte frames are hard to keep clean and prevent damage, but so is white. Personally, I would never buy a white bike (or car)
