Hello, this is a follow up post about trying to figure out what tools I need to change the bottom bracket on my bike. it's a single speed brick lane bike. I've attached the pictures I have. so far I've removed the bolts on both the cranks and can see this square hole. I've tried using a crank puller (a park tool cw-7 that I borrowed from a neighbour) but I can't seem to get it to work. So I don't know if I need a different type of crank puller of just a bigger wrench, but so far I can only get the center bit to screw in a bit before it becomes basically impossible to move anymore.
Thanks!

Tell us more about your struggles with the crank puller. I’ve never not gotten the cranks off with mine.
The CW-7 has two little nubbins on either side, one for square taper and one for hollow spindles. If you’re using the small size (which is for square taper), there’s no reason why it shouldn’t work.
If you’re really struggling, just go to a shop. It might be stuck in such a way that you’re risking damaging the threads with the tool, and it would be better to pay a few bucks to have someone take this off than to damage it permanently.
what does your crank puller look like? you need to make sure you screw the bolt all the way back before insert it in the cranks (and make sure it sits straight, if it doesn’t go in very far, you are probably crossthreading). once the crankpuller sits in the cranks, you can push the bolt all the way through and it should push them off the spindle of the bb. and then you will most likely need a bsa bb tool,
Hit it with your purse baby boy, its an interference fit. Beat that wrench on the crank puller with a mallet. I bent the wrench on mine getting my sq taper bb off my 2018 trek. Yours is old as fuuuuu. Happy swinging….
hard to tell for sure from the pictures but it looks like there may be a crank bolt washer in the crank that you forgot to take out which could be preventing the tool from working properly.

As there is no CW-7 crank tool from ParkTool I guess you are using the CWP-7. It has two tips that are different in diameter.
