Bought a cheap big trail 400 either for re sale or for my wife if it is comfortable enough for her. She will not be doing anything crazy what so ever while riding the bike. Searching online I cannot find a straight answer to this.
Should the rear hub have any play in it? Has maybe a 2mm wobble. Is this normal, repairable or simply replaceable? I don’t care too much if it doesn’t greatly affect the ride.
Thanks in advance for any info

No it should not.
If it’s not been pushed into the hub house properly, then the bearings might be worn out or not seated properly. My hub had a similar play and that was because the bearings were worn out. It is replaceable but you will require a bearing press. If the bearings are ISO standard, it should be widely available. If not, you will need to contact the original manufacturer.
You might be able to pull off the hub without a tool.
