I ride a mountain bike right now and was thinking about getting a fixed gear bike to cruise around the city and explore. Don’t want to spend too much and not too low either..somewhere in mid range for decent rideable bike. This frame is an SE Draft, which SE is a favorite of mine. Mostly getting it for the frame tbh. Chain is YBN. The wheels, handle bars, stem, cranks, and rear hub are all from Zycle Fix. It’s not a well known company but they have relatively good parts for the price. Has anyone heard of it before? Is it a good grab for $145 or should I skip on it?

The SE Draft was a pretty common, bottom of the barrel hi ten steel fixie 10-15 years ago. Heavy bike with no name parts. That being said, it looks like someone bought the thing and kept it in a garage for over a decade. If you’re not too snobby about performance and just looking for a fun fixed gear to tool around on, this is a fine choice for the price.
Nobody here is going to give you two thumbs up on a beginner bike unless you’re willing to spend $4-$500 for something with decent parts and a chromoly steel frame, but that’s how it is in any niche hobbyist subreddit. I started with a $200 hi ten 6ku 15 years and 7 bikes ago, so everyone has to start somewhere.
is the price ok? Yes. its a fair price.
But it’s not a fixxie. Its a single speed with a front ad rear brake. And the price is still fair.
it’s nothing special. but at $145, it’s a good price
