Canyon grizl CF sl 7, brand new. Chain did the damage. Is that serious or just aesthetic unpleasant?

Speaking from experience, once I posted here a small scratch in my brand new bike and everybody was like “ReTurN It itS RuInED”, I went to a carbon repair guy and told me it was superficial, so I didn’t return it, and TBH if I don’t look for the scratch I don’t even see it.
But in your case I’d return the bike immediately, this is completely unacceptable even if the frame integrity may not be compromised.

I’d send it back. I can deal with a scuff or light scratch but that one is a bit much.
