  1. Faded serial number? 😂

It’s been deliberately scraped off. Happily it’ll be stamped into the underside of the BB shell.

  2. Do the right thing and look up the frame number on Bikeregister. Bonus points if you run a UV light over it to see if it’s been security etched.

  3. Someone stole my bike from the rack a few years back. I found it later in a bush (like… they’d picked it up and tossed it in there to make it hard to see) a mile away on a connecting path behind two buildings a couple months later.

  4. I would inspect the frame very closely. If it isn’t a stolen bike it’s in there for a reason.

  5. For what it’s worth, I found a mountain bike with a sticker from the US Air Force Academy team. It was ditched in the woods around the University of Minnesota. The bike was clearly stolen but in decent condition… just missing a seat and the front wheel. I called the academy in Colorado and after being connected to about eight people I finally reached someone who requested photos and ultimately told me to keep the bike.
I’m now able to live with a clear conscience… at least on that matter. Thanks USAFA

  6. Looks like a chisel. My favorite HT. If you can send me the serial number. Stemped into the frame near the BB. Ill ask my friend to get the exact info.

If you want to do the right thing. I can ask him to look into what store sold it and potentially, potentially. Not a guarantee, find the owner.
