Ok so I got this yesterday. It cranked through all the gears when I bought it. When u was cleaning it the chain came out of track but I put it back. Now it won’t shift ? Um help

I’m new to this watched a few videos but I can’t get it. The derailleur is not frozen
Does the derailleur cage move when you press the shifter? A video would be most helpful.
And just to check, you are turning the pedals/cranks while shifting, right?
Is the problem with both derailleurs or just the rear one? You could try to just move the chain to a new gear by hand and see if that affects things.
The mechanism is pretty simple, so I would guess if it’s not shifting, there’s a tension issue where the cable attaching the shifter to the derailleur is loose and needs to be tightened. You can check that by seeing if there’s slack in the cable.
Another option is that the derailleur position was moved so when you shift, it doesn’t move the chain enough to latch onto the next gear.
