Hi everyone!
I’m doing some research for a cycling accessory concept and would really appreciate honest input from people who ride.
*** THIS IS NOT AN AD I’m not selling anything, just trying to understand how cyclists think to support them best.
I just want general feedback / thoughts you have about a product like this.
Below are also a few questions you can choose to answer if you have the time to. Answer any or all or none, up to you, I would just really appreciate the feedback asap!
- When it comes to repair kits or small bike accessories, do you usually buy them online or in a physical bike shop? Why?
- What do you dislike most about this solution?
- What price would feel “expensive but acceptable” for this product. Keep in mind you would put in your own tools.
- Would you feel comfortable buying a new bike accessory online without seeing it in person first, or is in-store inspection important to you?
- Any general thoughts on the product.

expensive but acceptable is the definition of this economy FML
Looks like it significantly reduces my ability to carry water.
That’s actually quite a neat concept that I haven’t seen before (combining a water bottle and tool cannister). I’m not sure I’d purchase one as most of my bikes use Fidlock cages now and the ones that don’t I often want to carry to 750-900ml bottles on it when riding, for shorter riders your concept might work to replace one of those but given I’d need a saddle bag and tool kit for the other rides I wouldn’t buy this just for shorter rides.
1). Mostly online. Price, convenience and range. I like my LBS but they don’t stock any of the on-bike tools I’ve settled on.
2). How much water does it hold? Losing water carrying capacity is the main issue for me. Aside from that I already have saddle bags on all bikes and some have in-frame storage (I also use Wolf Tooth’s Encase Bar One system), with so many alternative options I wouldn’t want to give up water capacity. I’m sure some people would though and your solution definitely makes it more convenient to move tools between bikes (I’ve ended up buying multiple sets of on-bike tools due to the inconvenience).
3). £20-25
4). Would prefer to touch this specific product first just to see how well made it was and how squeezable the drinks section was. Would be prepared to buy blind if I trusted the returns process (tricky for a new business unless through an established online market place I guess)
1 – no preference
2- dislike MOST is probably how awkwardly big my bottle would be while not holding more water? It looks like a cool concept but I personally wouldn’t use this
3 – a saddle bag I think is like $20 these days?
4 – no preference depending on price point
5- looks cool but not for me. I have a few saddle bags already and they solve for this. I also have a ton of water bottles already. I’m maybe not the target audience for this though. I’m unsure if this is compelling enough to have somebody switch from their current setup
For me, the bottle does not solve any actual problem, but reduces flexibility. I am not convinced it will rattle less than having tools in my Frame- or saddle bag. Is the bottle dishwasher safe? If not, it is also right away a No-Go for me. I like to have multiple bottles in rotation, so being able to order multiple “bottle” parts with a single tool holder would be a necessity. Small frames or frames with a frame bag tend to be limited concerning bottle size, so this also reduces the actual market. I often buy products online when there is all information I need available online. If not, I prefer to go to a shop and check it out. Overall, the product may be for some people but I think it is not for me.
