Hey friends, what's up? So, this is my first fixed gear bike and I'm having some problems with tires. I've already had 2 DSI, 2 Kenda, and 1 Pirelli Phantom, all 28-inch, but none of them held up.
I use the bike for commuting in the city and I'm finding it difficult to keep any of these tires for 6 months.
I would appreciate some help or tips on tires to buy.
Note: I live in Natal, RN, it's very windy here and I have a lot of problems with skidding because of the beach sand on the asphalt.

  1. Pirelli phantom all the way.
I’ve burnt DSI tires in 1 day, their rubber is so bad.
Kenda is somewhat middleground but pirelli phantoms have the best cost benefit ratio.
You can try Levorin Praieiros, also.

  2. After developing a wear patch on some tires that are ~2 months old, I tell myself that not every stop needs to be a skid.

  3. My tip is learn to ride without needing to skid tf out of your tire. Pick a ratio you can decelerate from quickly and easily and ride that forever. It takes me literally close to if not over 1k miles to skid through a tire.

There’s no shame in a front brake, either. Especially if buying tires is getting expensive/annoying
