  1. Cable tension is either slightly too low or slightly too high; its trying to shift, but can’t really tell if its trying to shift up or down since it’s reseating itself immediately

  2. The chain is jumping up a little. Try loosening your cable tension by turning your rear shift barrel adjuster a half turn in (CW from the perspective of the cable housing). If that doesn’t fix it or you have gears jump at different spots in your cassette then your derailleur hanger is likely bent.

    Most likely problem is that the shifter needs to be indexed. Next likely problem is that the guide pulley got reinstalled backward or the chain was reinstalled backward. Another possibility is the chain is stretched and worn out Lastly and hopefully not the case is the derailleur hanger is bent.
