Hi r/bikewrench,

I’m having an issue with a rear thru-axle on my Canyon Grail (2025) mounted on a Wahoo Kickr Core 2. I’ve used a 142mm adapter for the thru-axle.

I’ve mounted and removed the bike several times before without any problems, but now the axle won’t come out. When I try to unscrew it, it doesn’t move, and the Allen key just spins freely, as if it’s stripped. I’ve tried using WD-40, but no luck.

Additionally, I rode the bike without realizing it was stuck, and the plastic part of the derailleur melted due to contact with the Zwift Cog.

At this point, the axle won’t move in or out, even when turning. Any suggestions on how to safely remove it or what might be causing this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot for your help 🙏

  1. so your udh is spinning… did you strip out the udh? If not put an allen in that to hold it still while you unscrew the thru axle. If it is stripped then you have substantially more work ahead of you to get that out

  2. Can you grab the right outer on the drive site with an allen key?
It looks like you disassembled the whole contraption by accident
