I was having issues shifting, so decided to take off my derailleur, clean it and re-index it (also using as a learning experience).
After reattaching it, I’m having troubles indexing it- where I will adjust the H/L screws enough to shift up, but then it won’t shift down. If I loosen, it will shift down but won’t a shift up (was following the Park Tool video).
When unscrewing the derailleur from the frame, I had to use a ton of force, and it was the same way getting it back on. Now I’m unsure if this could be a bent hanger, or maybe the threading in the frame is messed up and causing the hanger to be screwed in slightly crooked? I also took off the cassette, so if anything looks incorrectly put together please let me know. LBS is closed today so wanted to get some advice before taking it in. TYIA

The deraileur looks a little bent and twisted. Indexing is adjusted via the barrell adjuster on the cable, not the limit screws.
Oh you most definitely cross threaded it on to the hanger. If you have access to taps (m10x1.0) you could try running it through from the opposite direction after taking the derailleur and wheel off or you could just bring it to a shop to let them try but it’s possible it’s too far gone

The limit screws have zero impact on shifting from one gear to another. All they do is limit how far inboard (L-screw) or outboard (H-screw) your derailleur cage travels. Once you set them the first time, there is zero reason to touch them again during the life of the component unless you change something out or something gets bent.

From the pic, looks like you cross-threaded the rear derailleur to the hanger. It will never shift correctly if it’s left in the position shown in your pics.
Please take it to a shop to have them figure it out.
