So I am new to biking and I wanted a decent mountain bike without spending $500+. I ended up buying this used giant on FB marketplace for $40. Did I get a good deal? I don’t see any obvious cracks or dents in the frame – from what I can tell it needs a tuneup, new brake pads, a new saddle, and a handlebar adjustment. I do plan on taking it to my local bike shop to get it checked out and fitted. Is there anything else I should ask them to look at while I am there? I only plan on riding this bike through light trails, nothing too crazy. Also I’m curious if anyone knows when this bike was made. It looks like it’s from the 90s but I’m not sure.

What the hell is up with that seat?
I wouldn’t waste the money on taking this to the bike shop for a fitting or anything else. This is an around town cruiser, not a mountain bike.
Try posting this on your local subreddit asking for some local bike people to help you out.
