Have been running my GoPro 10 as my only camera for commuting the last 4 years. After a lot of aggression and sketchy driving in Denver from others around me I've decided to upgrade my front to an Insta360 Ace Pro 2 for it's amazing night time footage and 8k capabilities.

My GoPro10 now loves on my saddle as a rear POV and it makes me feel way better and the fact it's very obvious I feelay make drivers think twice.

  1. Nice setup.

Few questions, I’m thinking of doing the same:

    – Is it easy to remove and install back? My bikes lives outdoors, so I cannot leave them on all the time.

    – Do you remove the footage everyday, or there is a write-over mode?

  2. How much rear footage does the 360 cam capture? Aka how much does your body block it? I wish there were a tiny helmet mount 360 camera – even a gopro size is too clunky for everyday use imo – and running two cameras seems like a ton of effort, especially since my commutes are very short.

Sharp bike. I also use my Straggler to commute.

I saw this on the Surly sub and was wondering what all those devices on the bike were hahaha.

“I feel [it] makes drivers think twice.”

Honest question–what percentage of drivers do you think notice the cameras? Is it higher in aggressive/reckless drivers? I think I’ve maybe noticed another cyclist’s camera once–when it was on top of their helmet–when riding or driving.

  5. Hello from Milwaukee, where I’ve been using this exact setup for about 7 years! In my anecdotal experience, I *also* think the highly visible cameras make some drivers think twice; I’d like to think drivers drive better around me when I have my cameras vs. when I don’t…

pretty good. What’s up with the wallpaper in the background? i like those old cars.

  7. good choice on the ap2. looking to get one myself as well. i got the x5 but i see it being too fragile for an action cam on a bike.

  8. That’s where I hang a bag with tools and a spare tube—I think you’re vastly overestimating the number of drivers who would look, closely, and recognize the object—then process that info, modify their behavior, and you to feel that difference.

In the time it takes them to pass you.

I mean, you’ll have the footage, so in 8K, you’ll be able to run all sorts of cool studies on their eye movements or something. Maybe you’ll see a lot of open mouth swears, eyes glance down, you lip read them saying “oh shit – not on camera again”, vehicle visibly slows, and they give you a wide berth while making that cute “click a pic” sign with their index finger…
