  3. 15:10 There was a chippy like that where I moved to as a teenager. It was open 7am-3pm. When we asked them why the woman (she was a reyt hag) said it was because they were a proper traditional English Fish and Chip shop 🤷‍♀️

  4. Billy my family were from.Hendon..I got out in 1984 miners strike. Joined the merchant navy in 84 the year in left school..Hendon was buzzing , ship yards, mines, heavy engineering. Thatchers government's destroyed the place and many other heavy engineering and mining towns.

  5. I’m from Sunderland served in the military. I left and it’s been let down by the council. It’s getting worse loads of immigrants been moved there .

  6. Left Sunderland 30 years ago. That street where you spoke to the 2 older ladies used to be quite nice. I’m really shocked how rough it’s become. Hendon was always rough but it’s gone to the extremes.

  7. This video is a poor reflection on Sunderland, (I'm not from the place but love the North East) the little areas shown in the video don't give it any credit, loads of regeneration going on plus Seaburn beach a couple of miles or so out of the city center has always been stunning and has received both the Blue Flag and Seaside Awards for summer 2025. I hope you get to revisit and see the progress.

  8. Sunderland is a great city with great people. Used to love going there as a kid, I’m from Scotland and have family down there.

Sad to see some of the state of that area, the people there deserve better.

  9. I from North Shields, another ropy small town in the north east not far from Sunderland. We might talk with different accents and have issues around football teams, but the one thing the NE has is decent friendly people. The NE like many other parts of the country have been starved of cash and now look like shitholes. While we all pay more and more tax each year, for less and less and less. Shame on them
