Looks like the heel of a shoe (probably a sidi) sticking out of an overshoe – it’s pretty common to not have heels on overshoes, they can’t wear through if it was never there.

Otherwise, it’s a clipless pedal, I think an spdsl

  2. Shimano SPD-SL pedal and cleat (yellow has the most float). I also spot a Wahoo radar! 👌🏼

  3. I’d wager a guess as to there is a pedal under his foot as it is a key component of a bicycle.

Jokes aside I don’t think there’s anything special going on here, but the way the picture is with the crank and pedal makes it looks like it’s attached to the heel of his foot. It however is not.

  4. You see the shoe heel because a cutout in his overshoe, and the pedal arm/crank arm. Nothing special here.

I think the photo is creating a confusing perspective where it looks like there’s something under the heel of his shoe, but it’s just the part of the shoe not covered by the white overshoe blending into the pedal and crank arm.

It’s AI slop. You can tell from little things that the image messes up. Like the smoke pattern in this wheel. Half those folks wound up in the wrong spot, certainly not in the middle of the front hub. A guy is very good, but it still makes mistakes.

  7. It is his pedal? He has wraps on and the picture is just not high quality, so the black heel showing through the wrap is blending with the crank arm

Pog w/yellow cleats. That is surprising. I thought he’d be in red with 0 deg float to get the max power transfer.

Imagine if this guy actually goes aero once in a while always on the hood and now yellow cleats. Scary how much power he can put out beyond what he already does.

    Beyond superlatives.
