currently slowly restoring a 2005 Norco Shore DH bike to it's glory (bought the frame for 50$ in perfect condition) and I will 100% use it for the wrong use case, it'll be my commuter!
Your best bet is to initially buy a used bike until you have a better feel for what your capabilities are. Then you can splurge on something that is better suited to you
I actually took there advice and bought a Down country bike then found a local bike park and had to buy another bike so the moral of the story is never listen to people who have more knowledge than you
I have this in me too lol when I went to buy my daily driver for work I had to remind my self I wanted something a lil less wheel resistance like a bigger mtb tier like a hybrid you know not Freaking twin turbo supercharged build and stroked bird 40 over with e 85 and race fuel and quad fuel pumps on big tier with crazy beast mode dragster I had to real in and think about what I really need for the work rides this is definitely me
The best thing that ever happened to me (bike purchase-wise) was, the bike shop owner listened to what I “wanted to do”…not what I was doing. I bought a more capable bike, grew into it and never regretted a thing. Bikes are expensive. Treat them like an investment.
This is just a bad salesman. That bike isint “less travel”, it’s lightweight and playful, extremely responsive to pedaling. If he framed it like that customer would probably actually buy it
This is why I have 7 bikes 😂 however, only 4 of them are at my east coast house. Even bike parks don't need long travel on the east coast. Colorado, Utah, Montana etc. That's where Enduro, DH, and full sus DJ are needed. The fatty goes where the snow is 😂
funny have a 140m travel trail bike…I am starting to slowly outgrow it will probably only jump though to a 150 or 160 max…get a bike for the 90% of your riding not the 10%. I'll ride my trail bikes at a DH park all day long.
My worst bike purchase ever was when my XC bike was stolen, a bike I had mostly ridden on gravel and asphalt. I found this nice new xc bike locally, nice store brand bike but with xt/xtr, but asked in a forum. Suddenly I was in a rabbit hole and ended up buying a twice as expensive 150mm travel rear and front. Well, it made me seek gnarlier trails a bit but it ended becoming a wall flower once I bought a proper road bike and realized I should have gone to the other extreme back then.
Tengo una bicicleta bastante básica. Cuando me dicen que la cambie por una mejor, les respondo que las dos llevan el mismo motor, yo mismo. cuando estoy en forma hago más, cuando no lo estoy sudo mas
Guilty. 😂 I'm a little over biked but not too bad. The trails I ride are mostly flat and flowy too but also have some technical sections. I have two trail bikes with 130 and 140 rear travel.
I went to a skate store for this reason. I wanted to get specific trucks (the axel). The clerk asked me some questions and I left with completely different trucks to what I went in for. But they were 100% what I needed. Even tweaked the bushings for my build. All for the same price as the set I wanted (they were the same price, so not an upsell). Trust the experts.
I'm new to cycling, started 9 years ago…and I always use MTB, although I always ride on the road and climb. I've been dreaming about getting recent, 'modern', and expensive MTB bikes. But today, I love my XC MTB 26 inch that was produced maybe 20 years ago. I suits my ride perfectly, and climbs much easier.

Xc bikes are hella underrated
The difference is only 10.000$, so what the heck 😉
If it wasn’t for aspirational purchases the industry would go bankrupt tomorrow.
Saw someone shredding whistler (blue/black flow) on a hard tail the other day. Just sayin…
How big is the object up your arse mate 🤣
when u have too much money lying around I guess😅
You need that overkill you know, YOU NEED IT, i need it…
It's almost as if people had subjective opinions on things…

You know what's crazy I just got my bike back from n+1 and I think that's the exact one
Me with my hardtrail bike😅
I have a specialized enduro not braking records up hill, but down hill is where the fun is.
Is this the Louisville location?

Love the "My name is Earl" vibes
I'm the one guy who took the advice 😂
(And saved $3k)
Cant afford any fullsus, stuck with an old 27.5 hardtail xc, and i use it on every terrain i somehow can land on
"overkill" sounds good , lol

yuuuuuuuup xD
So true 😂
I’ve got three hardtails and they work for me. They’re also all at least 6+ years old.

Always go big or spend a ton of money getting there.

The solution is an electric motor, so you can still destroy your XC-buddies…
“Hi, can you show me the “Under $600” section?

Why deciding if you can have both.

Hi
You already know it was the most expensive bike 🚲 n the shop

Mountain bikes are hideous 😂
😂😂😂
I got a Bike Rack on the front of my Bike Park Assault Vehicle and it has a Trail and an Enduro E Bike on it.
😅 You never know.
