Hey everybody. I have this vintage bike that was handed down to me, don’t know anything about it. Did a bit of research online but I thought this would be the best place for some firsthand knowledge. Any info is appreciated
In the future, googling the brand of whatever you’re looking at plus catalog usually works pretty well.

Ballpark: Merckx. Columbus tsx. Campagnolo record or chorus probably. Mavic rims… 91 or thereabouts.

First thought was that the bike had been slaughtered and was hanging to drain out the blood…er..oil.
Then I put my glasses back on.

sweet old bike with newer shifters-on-brake-levers. Cool Colors. Eddie The Cannibal was a big deal. Ride that bike and keep it rightly locked….. NICE….

Eddy Merksx, a classic, and the racing bikes
firstoff on
The pictured bike is an Eddy Merckx 10th Anniverary frame from 1989, with some interesting components…
Shifters are Campagnolo C-Record first generation Ergopower 8-speed shifters. Beautiful, rare and heavy.
Would love a closer look at the cranks. They appear to be first generation C-Record from 1986. If the shield logo on the crank is etched, it’s 1986. If it’s printed, then it’s a later – more common crank. Only drive side pics can clarify the model.
Brake calipers are a mystery. The brake blocks holders look like Campagnolo Delta ones, but the guides below them look like pre CPSC (1978 or earlier) Campagnolo Super Record. It’s impossible to tell what the calipers themselves are from the photo but I suspect they are ‘double pivot’ of some kind, dating them to 1993 or later.
Seatpost is Campagnolo Super Record from 1987 or earlier.
It’s all really good quality stuff,, but thrown together over time, rather than bought this way as a complete bike.

Those old steel frames are a joy to ride.

That’s a pretty nice bike

It’s probably the Merckx Corsa extra model. Beautifully riding frame set! That was a pro level bike ridden by the pros in the Tour de France and other European road races

Hold onto that sweet piece of art….
That’s really sweet colour combination.
That’s the 10th Anniversary Merckx. My buddy’s dad rode one and it’s a pretty stunning bike. Here’s some information from [Bike Forums](https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vintage-sales/1038366-10th-anniversary-merckx.html). Enjoy!
