I am doing a 50h service on a Rockshox 35 Gold. While inspecting the lowers I noticed a loose part in the air side lower. I am having a heck of a time trying to remove this component. This component doesn't appear to be listed in the service manual. Is this supposed to be in here? Haven't seen components in the lowers before on previous forks I have serviced.

Looks like a volume spacer.
Edit: probably wrong
I think it sits flush along the bottom and acts as a bottomout bumper for the stanchions. Though I havent opened up one of those forks before so I would wait for someone who has to confirm.
I looked at upgrading my damper in my RockShox gold 35, but I read that they have plastic shims internally and these are glued in place instead of press fitted and as such can break off and rattle around.
This is why I immediately sold my 35 and swapped it for a DVO onyx
