Age 10, height 5'0" and growing fast!
Current bike is a 24" Giant Liv with 7 gears with poor gear range (2.65 ish)
Need a bike with wider gear range, like an 8×3
Budget $500 (I am okay looking for used bike but need to know model)
Preferably lower gear inches to tackle hills with ease with me along

I am thinking of buying size S (instead of XS) for which min height is 5'3" – kid will likely close in on the height and it has cross over bar design.
Any other similar bike options?

At that age, buy a used bike since the child is still growing instead of a too big bike that the child can “grow in to”. Speaking as an adult that was sold a too big bike at one time, riding something the wrong size sucks.
