I’m looking for a road bike for my fist Half Ironman and I found these two options on marketplace.
The first one is a 2017 Cannondale CADD 12 with Shimano Ultegra.
The second one is a Tri bike is a Argon 18 E117
Both bikes would need new tires, tubes, chain and some maintenance as they have been sitting for a while.
I believe I could get both bikes for around $1200
Would you this be a good deal? Are these bikes any good?

The Cannondale would be my choice. It’s a much more versatile bike. The CAAD bikes are highly respected road racing bikes. This one even has a nice wheel set.
Tri bikes are only good for race day. They SUCK to ride casually.
They’re fine. Nothing special. I think $1200 is fair for both. However, older Cannondales dish their wheels with a different offset than most other bikes so you will not be able to use the deeper HED wheels on the Argon. Which is what I would have wanted to do if I were you.
That CAAD12 is awesome. But I am indeed a cult of CAAD member.
