My son (9) has a nearly adult size head and a giant mop of hair so we end up getting him adult sizes in most hats and helmets.
So as he gets into more serious mountain biking, I'm seriously considering getting him a full face helmet.
But because he's still small and light, I want to get him something that's not overkill and uncomfortable to ride in.
For reference, he rides a 24" specialized riprock with 2.6" tires, hydraulic brakes and a front shock. For those who know Colorado front range riding, he rode from Lookout Mountain down to Golden on the Apex trail last week. He's definitely adventurous.
Thoughts? Thanks!

Our kids have liked helmets from Oneal.
They had Sonus Deft’s for a few years and I upgraded our oldest to the Blade when he got his most recent helmet.
The Sonus is pretty well rated by Virginia Tech and is IMO better than anything else I’ve seen at its ~$100 price point.
The Blade feels very similar, but adds in an anti-rotation system & has some small upgrades like nicer hardware for the adjustment knobs on the visor.
