New fatbike owner and hoping for some recommendations: From what I've read, it's worth lowering tire pressures for deeper snow, but I've got a 5-10km ride from home to most trails in the area, and lower-pressures on pavement would be unpleasant on the ride there and back

I use a small, high-pressure pump for my road bike, but I can't imagine the same thing used for 120psi 25mm tires would work for 5psi and 4.5". What are some good options?

  1. Well, I have used my Specialized floor pump, but it was a pain. So I bought a $20 Ryobi inflator (already had batteries and chargers). It worked great, but the adapter was a pain to use everytime, so I bought a SKS head that will fill presta or shrader valves and now I’m delighted. This inflator works flawlessly. Power on, select pressure, hit start and it stops when it reaches desired pressure. (my perfect pressure is 13 psi, enough to get me on the center row of knobs on my Jumbo Jim tires, for road/hard pack, but soft enough to give as needed). Also, it remembers the 13 PSI, so next time, all I have to do is power on, hook it up and hit the go button. No need to buy a guage!
