My new Rodeo Labs Trail Donkey was delivered this week. I got a leftover TD3.1 on a great deal, SRAM Rival AXS with their in house carbon wheels. Did a chill ~59 miles yesterday mainly to get familiar with the bike and nail down the fit. The bike is super snappy and accelerates pretty quickly. The size 61cm fits my 6’3 frame perfectly with a short (60mm) stem.

I’m coming from an aluminum 2015 Diamondback Haanjo I bought new back in 2015. I beat the snot out of that bike over the last 8 years riding and racing on gravel, single track and double track all over SE TX. It was a beast but the frame was getting very tired and fatigued… so, enter the Donkey. It’s a huge improvement in pretty much every facet.

I still need to change out the bars and throw on an oval chainring, but otherwise I’m going to leave it as is for a while. Thanks to the folks over at Rodeo Labs for turning around the build and delivery so quickly. My first race of the fall season is this coming weekend so it will be fun putting it through its paces in a race environment.
